Tashi Delek! Welcome to our centre.

Dear Buddhist practitioners and Dharma friends — greetings to you all! First, we offer our heartfelt blessings: Tashi Delek! May all be auspicious. Amitabha.

Welcome to the Land of Compassion Buddhist Center, located in Drepung Dhora Khangtsen Village at Ganden Jangtse Monastic College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This center was established in 2024 through the compassionate blessings and strong support of our precious root guru, Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tsephel.

The Land of Compassion Buddhist Center is led by Gyatso Khechok Rinpoche, who teaches the Dharma here. Each month, the center offers a wide range of activities, including Dharma study, meditation and mindfulness practice, prayer ceremonies, Lama Tsok offerings, Green Tara blessing ceremonies, Palden Lhamo blessing ceremonies, 21 Tara pujas and mantra recitations, Medicine Buddha pujas, and more. Rinpoche presents the Dharma in both Chinese and Tibetan.

We warmly welcome all Dharma friends who wish to study, contemplate, and practice the Dharma with us.

We are honoured to share Dharma teachings and practice to support your spiritual journey. We hope you will feel at home in our community.

Buddhism as a living practice for modern life

Although we live in the 21st century — an age of rapid scientific advancement — human beings face ever-increasing challenges: suffering, afflictions, difficulties, and disasters, many of which are the result of our own actions. Since ancient times, the Dharma has brought clarity, wisdom, and liberation to countless sentient beings.

In modern life, the practice of Buddhism — through meditation, cultivating compassion and bodhicitta, and developing wisdom and merit — offers deep relief and joy, fostering both mental and physical well-being. For this reason, the Land of Compassion Buddhist Center was established in Dhora Khangtsen Village, to provide a place where practitioners can find nourishment for the heart and mind on their spiritual journey.

The center focuses on Buddhist study and practice, offering three levels of courses — beginner, intermediate, and advanced — so that practitioners can progress according to their own level and capacity. We aspire that your heart remains pure, filled with compassion and bodhicitta; that your wisdom and merit continually grow; and that you may be freed from all afflictions and suffering, attaining awakening, happiness, and peace.

We are pleased to offer Dharma teachings on Buddhist philosophy, meditation, empowerments, pujas, and practice sessions. We welcome friends from all cultures and backgrounds. Teachings are offered in Chinese and Tibetan.

All services are free of charge. Offerings to support our centre and teachers are warmly welcomed.

Please see our schedule of upcoming events. Everyone is warmly welcome.
